- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound (480 g) of Italian sausages (mild or hot), sliced
- 1 yellow onion, peeled and finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
- 1 large carrot, peeled and sliced
- 28 oz (840 ml) can of crushed tomatoes in puree
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
