Ingredients

  • To Make Tempura Batter:
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) ice water
  • For Cauliflower Bites:
  • 4 cups cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1½ cups Panko breadcrumbs
  • olive oil spray
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) teriyaki sauce

Instructions

To Make Tempura Batter:

In a medium mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup all-purpose flour and 1/4 cup cornstarch. Whisk well.

Slow pour in ice water, whisking to combine. Set aside.

For Cauliflower Tempura:

Place the breadcrumbs in a small bowl. Set aside.

In a medium mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, kosher salt, and garlic powder. Stir well.

Toss cauliflower florets in the flour mixture, then drop in the tempura batter.

Using a fork, pierce a piece of cauliflower and dredge it through the tempura batter.

Transfer battered cauliflower bites to the bowl with breadcrumbs.

Preheat your air fryer to 400 º F (200º C) for 5 minutes.

Spray cauliflowers with olive oil spray. Transfer bites to the air fryer basket.

Fry at 400 º F (200º C) for 6 minutes. Flip and fry for a further 1-2 minutes.

Remove fried teriyaki cauliflower from the fryer and transfer to a serving plate. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Serve hot over the cooked rice.
