- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 4 whole cloves
- 2 bottles (750 ml each) wine (preferably Merlot)
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) sugar
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) orange juice
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) brandy
- 1 medium orange, thinly sliced
Place the cinnamon sticks and whole cloves on a double thickness of the cheesecloth, then bring up corners of cloth and tie with string.
In a 3-quart (3 L) slow cooker, combine the remaining ingredients. Add the spice bag. Cover the pot and cook on high-heat setting for 1 hour or until heated through.urn off the cooker and open the lid.
Discard the spice bag and orange slices. Serve warm.
